Life is often compared to a river as it flows on its journey towards the sea. At times the river is quiet and other times it roars and moves forward with terrifying speed. Its waters can be dangerous and turbulent. The whole flow of life is as the movement of the river. The pulse beat of life within you. As the river carves its way through the land, so do you carve your life through its journey while you are here.

My preoccupation with life has been a never ending search to find the meaning and depth of what is the purpose of my existence. I can distinctly remember  the day I discovered my writing was actually the words I wanted to say. This may sound strange but perhaps we do not really know the truth of our expression until we allow ourselves the luxury of that true expression.

The poems I started to write were the based in my emotions rather than telling a story. I find solace in the expression of the poems. They are part of me and I have been reluctant to share them. Soon there will come a time when I will be gone from this plane of existence, and I would leave behind some words that might find their way into another’s heart.

It is often the inspiration of another that brings us to identify with our own experiences. A sharing of this nature is most precious. I cannot ever make the poem just happen, although there are times when it is spontaneous and it is expressed. I have no advice to one who would be a poet, I can only say I am one who loves to write and experiments with it.

I am the river
I am the flow
I am the stream of life
Onward to the deep I go
Calm waters ripple through my intensity
Washing over me restoring equilibrium

Rain and snow nourishes the river
It overflows spreading its abundance
I am the flow as the abundant river
I am the flow of giving and nurturing
I am the river
I am the flow
I am the stream of life
Onward to the deep I go
